Catalyst Radio says: “Farewell.”
It is with a great deal of sadness that I have to
bring this announcement to everyone, but by the end of the
month, Catalyst Radio will be closing down and will cease to
broadcast. This has been a VERY difficult decision for me to
make and I release this news with a great deal of sadness in my
heart. For the past several months, Catalyst Radio has really
been struggling in several areas: server hardware, internet
backbone issues, listening times, lack of new music, etc. Ever
since we relocated our broadcast to a new location (in which we
couldn’t stay at our old location), it’s been a downhill ride
and trying to climb back up the hill has been extremely
difficult. Last night, our area had a lot of heavy
thunderstorms (praise God for the rain!) and during this time,
our area took a few lighting hits that were extremely close to
where we broadcast. The end result was even further hardware
problems with our broadcasting server and I believe that it has
been the ‘handwriting on the wall’ that I have feared would
appear before me.
Catalyst Radio launched in June of 2005 and for
the past two years, we have had a wonderful time broadcasting
internet radio to people from all over the world. During the
time of our broadcast at Live365 (our hosting company for our
stream), we managed to climb all the way up to 27th
in the genre of “Christian”. We came very close to becoming one
of the Top 25 stations in the “Christian” genre at Live365 and
we couldn’t have made it to 27 without the help and support of
our listeners. However, over the past few months, our ranking
has dropped sharply and we believe that a lot of it has to do
with the ongoing problems that we have been facing since our
relocation. Unfortunately, I do not have the time (nor
resources, aka: money) to continually try to fix the ongoing
problems that we have been facing and this has become and
hindrance for Catalyst Radio to move ahead in the direction that
I would have liked to see it progress.
Also, changes in my personal life have really
played into this decision as well. As many of you know, I will
be getting married in just about 2 months and my attention to
getting everything prepared and ready is increasing greatly.
I’ve also recently began to work several hours into the ‘media
ministry’ of my local church, which is where I have been a youth
pastor for almost 4 years now. My full-time job
responsibilities have grown over the past year, often at times
requiring me to work overtime just about every week. I’ve tried
to juggle these as best as I can, but I’ve hit a point where I’m
having to make some sacrifices to continuing moving ahead (for
myself personally) and I believe that Catalyst Radio, sadly,
ends up being one of the causalities.
There are several people I would like to say a
special thank you too. These are people that really helped make
a positive impact on Catalyst Radio over the past two years.
They are in no special order, but I felt that I wanted to at
least share my thoughts with these individuals:
- - - - - - - - -
Arlene (Youngside
Records) – Words can’t even begin describe the tremendous
blessing you have been to Catalyst Radio. There were hardly any
record companies that we ran across that really were eager to
work with us and try to get music in our hands and Youngside
Records was one of the first to actually stand up and support us
through promotion and music. Youngside Records will ALWAYS have
a special place in my heart. I appreciate the phone calls,
e-mails, and overall friendship that I have gained in the past
two years. I was always a joy to talk with you and hear from
you.
Dorn Reppert
& the boys from “Torn
Perfection” - You guys were the first band to really
latch on and give support to Catalyst Radio when we were getting
started. You all went above and beyond just having your music
played on Catalyst Radio, but you took us to the shows and
helped spread the word around. I know for a fact that Catalyst
Radio gained some new listeners because of your influence.
Thanks so much for believing in us! It was plesure to talk with
you all… and the Golum voice… I’ll never forget the Golum
voice! :D
Kuba
(The Demon Slayer) - Thanks for all your support to Catalyst
Radio. Always loved listening to your show. Without a doubt,
The Full Armor of God Radio Broadcast is one of THE BEST radio
shows that you can find anywhere on the internet. I’ve always
admired you for being very strong in the Lord and not backing
down from any fight… always standing up for what you believe in,
even if it means that you have to go it alone tooth and nail.
Don’t stop leaving me crazy messages in Skype. Those are a
highlight of the day!
Lord Thaddius
– Long time friend for many years… What more can you say to a
guy that has you in his top 4 friends on MySpace, when he has
BILLIONS of people on his friends list? *laugh* You were the
first test dumm…er, person, to do an audio interview with us
when we did our podcasts. Thanks for all your help over the
years with the minor web work and such. Looking forward to the
day when we see the return of WTC. “Long live WTC!”
Michael
(Fossil) – Without a doubt, one of my favorite electronic
artists to come around in years. I was just listening to
‘Activator’ the other day on my brand new iPod. Your music is
very inspiring to me and you are one of THE best Christian
electronic artists on the scene. I have enjoyed talking to you
personally over the past year and I CAN’T WAIT till we hear some
more music from you! Don’t stop what you’re doing… I don’t know
if I could handle it.
Seth Holloway
(Least of These) – Thank you so much for supporting Catalyst
Radio with your service. Some of the artists and bands that you
sent us were top notch and we have grown to love their music.
Other radio stations need to get tapped into your service… they
don’t know what they are missing. I hope that God blesses your
ministry and opens new doors for you in the future.
Isaiah –
The first ‘long time’ listener to Catalyst Radio. You’ve been
listening pretty much ever since we have been broadcasting.
Your support never went without notice. I’ve enjoyed getting to
know you over the past few years and talking with you. You won
many a contests from Catalyst Radio… many CDs… It’s listeners
like you that made Catalyst Radio really worth it. Thank you
for all your support over the past two years, especially since
it came from the opposite coast of the US.
Carson &
the Flaming Fish Community – I’ve
been a fellow ‘flisher’ for several years now. This is one of
my favorite communities out there, period. There have been many
electronic artists in the Christian industry that have come to
Catalyst Radio because of our connection with Flaming Fish. It
was always nice to see fellow ‘flishers’ stop by and give their
support to Catalyst Radio. Thank you (the community) for all
you have done to help support Catalyst Radio.
And of course, the rest of the
supporters and
listeners. It’s because of you all
that we have even broadcast in the past two years. It’s been a
lot of fun and blessings. Getting to know some of you and
talking to some of you has been a real treat for me personally.
Just because we are closing down the broadcast doesn’t mean you
have to stop the contact. Drop me a line and let me know what’s
going one from time to time… keep me in the loop both in the
music world and personally.

send me a personal e-mail at:
spades@mindspring.com . This is my personal e-mail
address. I’m not sure how much longer the station e-mail
address will be active, so I would suggest sending it to the
e-mail address provided. Our phone number will continue to be
active for several more months. You may feel free to call us
at: (404) 418-6529. If we do not answer, leave us a crazy
phone message. Kuba knows all about those.

I’m not sure what the future holds for me
personally. I do know that I have always felt that my calling
is somewhere involved in music, or a music type of ministry.
I’m not sure where the Lord will lead me from this point, but if
he ever brings my path around to doing another radio station (or
show, or whatever…), I’ll be sure to let all of you know as soon
as it happens. For this time period in my life, however, I
really feel that it is time for me to move on to other areas in
my life that have helped me to grow and will continue to help me
grow in the direction that I need. Again, this is one of the
hardest decisions that I’ve had to make, but as much as it
brings sadness to my heart, I can’t help but feel some
excitement for what God might have in store for me.
Thank you ALL so much for everything in the past
two years. Music is a passion of mine and to be able to share
in the passion with you all, has been nothing short of amazing.
I pray blessings upon all of you and hope that God will bless
each and every one of you individually in great and mighty ways.
God Bless,
